    Artist Declaration —

Audrey Doh (b. 1996, South Korea) is a multidisciplinary artist who repurposes technology as vessels for ritual, tradition, and collective meaning-making. Her work investigates enduring cultural practices, exploring how communities construct alternative belief systems when scientific measurement encounters the unmeasurable. Through sensor-based interactions, embedded systems, and projected media, Doh creates quiet, contemplative rituals that invite audiences to move beyond monolithic reality toward multiple, intersecting systems of meaning.

“Womb: An Immersive Opera” is an opera that centers around childbirth through a C-section through an immersive experience of being inside the womb as a fetus, created by a light projection on an 50 feet inflatable dome. It uses dramatic fluid simulations as a theatre background and positions singers outside of performance space as shadows - altogether creating the feeling of the comforting yet unsettling experience of being inside the womb.

creates an immer specific qualities of an inflatable dome projection

Created as part of a new experimental collaboration between NYU Tisch with the opera company Opera on Tap. Interdisciplinary teams from students from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program (GMTWP) and Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) came together to create immersive theatrical work that utilized an inflatable dome as a projection surface and theater venue.
